About Dennis O’Connor
Dennis O’Connor is a prolific freelance writer with hundreds of magazine and
newspaper bylines and a book title, and he is currently working as managing editor
of The Catholic Telegraph, official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. He
has written extensively on religious and social issues for various Roman Catholic
publications across the country, and he frequently contributes material to the
national news wires of the Catholic News Service.
His Journalism degree is from Indiana University. His newspaper career includes
stints as editor and reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Hamilton
Journal-News, Hometown Newpapers, the Oxford Press and other Midwest publications.
As a freelance reporter for the Cincinnati Enquirer, he helped cover the Ohio River
floods of 1997.
For more than a decade he was owner, editor and publisher of two Cincinnati,
Ohio-area magazines, New Lifestyles magazine and Entertainer Magazine, and he still
regularly writes about art, architecture and entertainment in the Greater
Cincinnati area for numerous publications. For more than a year he was a
writer/consultant for Carlson Wagonlit Travel WTS, of Louisville, Ky., working on
numerous promotional projects for their group department. He since has added travel
writing to his repertoire of coverage, and he has written about Opryland Hotel
Nashville, French Lick Springs Resort in southwestern Indiana, the Easton Center in
Columbus, Ohio. Upcoming assignments include adventure travel along the New River
Gorge in West Virginia, and unique lodging in the Smoky Mountains.
While working for Thomson Newspapers, O’Connor was editor of Go Boating &
Recreation Magazine, a regional publication that covered boating and camping news
in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. For the past couple years, he has been a regular
contributor to a trade journal covering the recreational vehicle industry.
He was a former markets editor for Writers Digest magazine, and is a regular
contributor to American Profile Magazine, Cincinnati Magazine, Kentucky Monthly,
Glenmary Challenge and several trade publications and their web sites.
He was co-author of the recent book "Northern Kentucky: Looking to the New
Millennium" (Towery Books). His current book project is "Bridges of Hope, Bridges
