I grew up here-and-there among the other military brats of the Cold War; a child of that time and place too few can understand. I went to school here-and-there too; mostly there and far less here. I've learned about music and art and history and people and many useless facts that come up now-and-then. I learned about war by participating in one; we'll not do that again. I learned about law and justice by running afoul of them each once; once is enough.
I learned about places by going there and about life by living it. I learned to see by looking and to hear by listening. I ran in a marathon once -- and won! We'll not run another marathon.
I was a soldier for a very long time. Lord I miss the smell of diesel at the motor pool at four in the morning, gunpowder fresh on a cold Fort Jackson sunrise, creamed chipped beef on toast and powdered eggs...
Once, I held an old friends head while he was dying. Once, I was a clown - a real life clown - for a little while. It's always just for a little while.
Willie Nelson was right you know? There are few things as great as making music with my friends. And, like Mr. Skaggs -- I too get those Highway 40 Blues.
I've seen the miracle of birth enough times to have learned that "life goes on..." and been touched by death enough times to know that "nobody gets out alive..." I spoke with an Angel once - it'll be ok now.
I learned to love by being loved -- Betty is "my special friend that takes care of me..." and she has taught me more in these few years than any other that came before.
A bio? Maybe not. Interests: Genealogy, History, Travel, Politics, Anthropology, World Religions, intimate creativity (ask me), and naturism.
