Canyon Lake, Texas, United States
My name is Samantha Thompson, and I’m originally from San Antonio, Texas. This first part will be the abridged version of my biography for the mildly interested, and immediately thereafter, I will have a slightly longer one for the more curious.
I’m ecstatically, happily married, and ecstatically, happily have no children. Ray and I met when I was twenty. He asked me to marry him on the first date and moved me into his house the following day. We’ve been together ever since, and I can think of no man with whom I’d rather grow old. A few years back, my husband, Ray and I bought a house about an hour north of San Antonio, which is a nice city, but we were both tired of the population explosion and the growing idea inflicted by the city officials that bigger is better. After the “big brother is watching” surveilance equipment was installed all over the freakin’ city we decided that we didn’t want to live in a place that required cameras on highways to monitor traffic. I felt like I couldn’t even scratch my ass without someone knowing! So, we started looking for a house out of the city, and even better, out of the county. So, now I live on a hilltop overlooking Canyon Lake and I only have one neighbor, and because she hates me, I don't have to talk with her. I love that!!
I have two sisters, a niece, and four nephews, all of whom I adore and thankfully, vise versa. My parents are still married after a blind date/“Will you marry me?” whirlwind kind of courtship over forty years ago that is very similar to Ray’s and mine. For that matter, all three daughters have been content to mirror the beginning of our parents relationship-all marrying a good man almost immediately after we’ve met them! I worked for a police department in San Antonio for almost four years, and there I learned just how things happen in police work. I was a dispatcher, but had several friends in uniform, one of which in particular was helpful in making the crime scenes real. I hope you enjoy my book as much as I enjoyed writing it! Thank you for your interest and support!
Okay…A little more! But only because you´re still reading!
Broken Boundaries started one evening after my father said he wished that I would go back to college, get a degree in literature, and write a book. I decided that I didn’t want to go to college, however, I did want to write a book. I began writing, basing the characters on what I knew. Marty began as being loosely based on me, but she was taller, thinner, far prettier, and a damn site smarter than her creator. Now she seems to have her own pulse! Marty’s family in Broken Boundaries is also very similar to mine in way that we are very close and all lack a certain amount of seriousness. Mama is indeed the “Cusser,” Kristina is the consummate smart-ass, all four nephews are angelic yet still tremendous pains in the ass. And me? Well, I love to give my sisters a hard time...like the time I left Sandra’s clothes at the cleaners under the name “Sandra Rotten-Crotch,” explaining to the little oriental woman at the counter that my sister was part Indian.
But, I digress.
As I stated earlier, I’m married. I was born and raised in San Antonio, and I attended Wilshire Elementary, St. Thomas Moore, where, even though I wasn’t Catholic, I was still required to attend mass and made to feel like the bastard daughter of Jenny Piccolo if I argued. Now that’s a nightmare for a thirteen-year old girl who could count on one hand the times she’d attended church! This isn’t to say that I’m not religious. I have my beliefs and I do pray. This isn’t also to say that sometimes I fall asleep before I get to the important parts. Anyway, I went to high school at MacArthur where I preferred to pull out Curious George books rather than a math book only because I knew the teacher, who greatly resembled Shakespeare, would be even more offended by me. Juvenile, I realize, but I did it anyway. After I was done with high school, I opted to work rather than go to college, and at age nineteen, I started dispatching for a security company, which is where I met my darling dear Ray. He was quite dapper in his service technician uniform and I was completely swept away by his charm and awkwardness at my flirtations. Alas, he wanted me bad, yet was too shy to put me over his shoulder and take me away. So, I showed my interest by adjusting my stockings, and he reciprocated by asking me out. After I left the security company, I went to work for the PD and stayed there for almost 4 years...blah, blah, blah. I went over this already...
Currently, I´m staying home to complete my second novel, Nefarious and have managed to think as far ahead as the third book...for me, this is no small feat!
