Zoltan Bartok was born in Hungary, 4 years after the end of the Second World War.
After graduating from a 4-year College, majoring in Chemistry, he took the first opportunity to flee his Communist-ruled homeland and emigrated to the USA in
1974. Not speaking English, he held odd jobs for a couple of years. He learned the language on his own and by 1979 he worked as a Salesman. In 1982, he moved to Switzerland to teach English at a Berlitz-type language school (Orsini Sprachschule) in Basel. In 1989, he returned to California and to Marketing.

In 1994, he moved to Salt Lake City where he invented Gle'x, a sophisticated board game.

Before writing Reign of the Chroms in 2001, he had published poems and short stories, mainly in his native Hungarian.

Interests: adventure, science, fiction, chess, z-chess, gle'x, computer, nature, and just about everything else...
