John McLain
John McLain's novel, THE RECKONING, is a coming-of-age adventure of greed, violence and retribution set in 1904, tracing the relationship between a tough old Wyoming rancher and an Irish street thug. It was published in trade paperback by Metropolis Ink.
His book, HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR HOME BUSINESS, was just published in 2008 by Strategic Book Publishing in New York. His completed screenplay, a finalist in the Writer's Digest competition, is now being considered by two independent studios. He is currently writing his second novel.
McLain worked 10 years as a reporter on dailies in California and Florida, was a San Francisco magazine editor, and ran his own publicity firm. He has published short stories and articles in magazines and literary journals nationwide.
A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, he is a member of Western Writers of America.
At San Jose State University, he studied journalism and won national first place in the William Randolph Hearst Editorial Writing Championship, two magazine-editing scholarships, and later won magazine editing awards from the Public Relations Society of America. Interests: Reading, writing, backpacking, kayaking and flyfishing.
