John McLain
John McLain is author of THE RECKONING, a coming-of-age adventure of greed, violence and retribution. It opens in Manhattan in the summer of 1904, and traces the relationship between a rugged old Wyoming rancher and a dangerous teenage Irish street thug. It's now available on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, the Apple iBookstore and many other outlets.
His other book, HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR HOME BUSINESS, is available from the same outlets. His completed a screenplay based on his novel, and the script was a finalist in the Writer's Digest Screenplay competition. He is now at work on his second novel.
McLain worked 10 years as a reporter on dailies in California and Florida, was a San Francisco magazine editor, and ran his own media consulting business. He has published short stories and articles in magazines and literary journals in New York, Louisiana and California.
He's a graduate of San Jose State University, where he studied journalism and won national first place in the William Randolph Hearst Editorial Writing Championship, two magazine-editing scholarships, and later won magazine editing awards from the Public Relations Society of America.
