Ron Robinson established himself as a playwright with productions of such plays as Kitchen Dance, Lifestyles and Poor Relations, and Nation Invisible, and with musicals such as Aces and Eights, Whatever Happened to Radio?, and Windswept. More recently he has shown his ability as a novelist with Thunder Dreamer, published by the University of South Dakota Press in 1996, and in 2000 with Diamond Trump. A native of Iowa, educated in South Dakota and Minnesota, Robinson taps his roots in most of his writing. His interest in the Upper Great Plains has led to a close association with the Center for Western Studies, for which he has written and presented fund-raising dramatic and musical productions. His participation in a capstone course at Augustana College in Sioux Falls led to the publication in 1999 of Call to Care, to which he contributed editing, a play cutting, introductions, and essays. His latest project is an post Civil War epic tentatively titled The Conch.
