Jan Andersen

Great Shefford, United Kingdom

I am a British freelance writer, author and editor working from a small home office
on a variety of projects from magazine articles, features and columns to
commercial copy, film scripts, lesson plans and dissertations. I am the author of
Chasing Death: Losing a Child to suicide, published in October 2009, and have also
published two fertility e-books.

I write everywhere; at home, on holiday, up mountains, in the car (but not whilst
driving), in cafes, in the middle of fields and anywhere else that inspiration strikes. I
write with speed and accuracy, vivacity and authority, whether it's short or long
copy, serious or light hearted. I'm flexible, good-natured and a delight to work with,
or so I've been told.

I also own and run numerous websites, including Jan Andersen Writing Services
(, Mothers Over 40 (
and Child Suicide (

Laughter and being able to see the funny side of the most dire of situations is what
has carried me through life and helped me to cope with the more traumatic periods.
Putting my observations of life into the written word has led me to specialise in
humorous, satirical and thought-provoking articles, essays and columns on a wide
range of topics from women's issues, relationships and parenting to psychology,
human interest and alternative medicine, guaranteed to make you rock with
laughter, weep buckets, enlighten, inform or reassess your views on controversial
subjects. I have taken part in lifestyle discussions on British TV and radio.

My aim is to inform, to entertain and to brighten the day of those who could benefit
from a really good laugh.

Interests: Outside writing my interests include: Art (portraits, caricatures, pastel paintings and torn paper art),paranormal phenomena, spirituality, psychology, human behaviour, long countryside walks, good food and anything that makes me laugh out loud.
