Sean McLain’s tenure in the entertainment industry began in 1988 as a member of the art department on the Touchstone Pictures feature Disorganized Crime. Subsequently, Mr. McLain undertook advertising, release and distribution responsibilities of an independent feature entitled Final Approach, the world’s first all digital sound motion picture film alongside the film’s director Eric Stahl resulting in a theatrical release and successful video campaign. This pioneering effort in film lead Mr. McLain (and Mr. Stahl) to a feature development deal with the Walt Disney Company where they were contracted to write two studio screenplays, Semi-Pro and Cardiac X-Press.
On the heels of the Disney successes, Mr. McLain set out to write and produce the independent feature entitled Safe House starring Patrick Stewart and Hector Elizondo. As Producer, Mr. McLain was responsible for every aspect of talent negotiations, physical production, post-production and distribution of the movie. The film was picked up by Viacom during production and became one of the most successful Showtime Original Pictures releases and Blockbuster video performers of 1999 resulting in a writing contract for a second project entitled 2000.
In 2003, Sean became a Laureate of the Smithsonian/Computerworld Award “Search for New Heroes” for his ground breaking, interactive documentary Space Research And You, which he wrote produced for NASA starring Lucasfilm’s R2D2. The two-year production resulted in a prototype live/interactive, digital film highlighted NASA’s STS-107 Columbia mission and was distributed to the world’s top science museums before the tragic events of February 2003 brought the mission and its amazing crew.
Sean’s co-authored screenplay, I-SEE-YOU.CON has wrapped principal photography and is in post-production. The film stars Rosana Arquette, Beau Bridges, Hector Elizondo, Dan Castelleneta, and Gary Marshall.
Most recently, Sean has entered into a development deal with Warner Bros. Animation for the creation of a new animated series and has just completed a new documentary entitled "Everest ER."
Mr. McLain came to Los Angeles in 1988 after receiving a BS in Film/Television Sciences and in Photography from Montana State University. He is presently an active member of the Writers Guild of America.
