I have been a writer since I was four years old, when I dictated my first poem to my mother. I wrote fairy tales when I was a teenager. I started writing children's fantasy stories as an adult, then turned to a science fiction novel, "Like a Tree Planted."
I am also a survivor. I survived a tragic childhood, a failed first marriage, getting a Master's degree in English, teaching college, motherhood, and cancer.
In 1996, I got a rare form of cancer when my youngest child was just a baby. So, I wrote about my whole cancer experience (diagnosis, surgery, chemotherapy, hair loss, anxiety, depression, recovery, inspiration, etc.). I also told the story of the health care workers and other patients I met--and the family and friends who helped me cope. In the back of my book are cancer resources (books, websites, phone numbers, etc.). Thus "Crossing the Chemo Room" was born.
My new fantasy novel called "Selah of the Summit" just came out. It's my response to Harry Potter and is set in the mountains, with a female as the main character.
All my books are available through http://www.amazon.com or http://www.booksurge.com. nonfiction. Interests: hiking in the mountains, figure skating, children, computers & Internet
