Well I am a young writer, but I write well for my age. I am only 19 and I spend a lot of time checking over my mother's spelling and grammer... not to mention helping my friend's in college with their essay papers... While I can do the editing thing, I much prefer the joy of creation in writing. I think that there is a major difference between good writers and medeocre ones...good writers know which pieces are good and can be seen by others, and which pieces to burn before the ink has had time to dry. Mediocre writers show off anything and everything...
I enjoy reading other people's work and I don't mind helpful critisism of my own work. I should warn people though that I don't have much of a stomache for amature poetry. I was handed volumes of the stuff in highschool and was bored to tears. I earned a reputation then for not liking anyone's writing but my own... but that is SO not true, I just don't like poorly written poetry!
A little more about myself since I am on this tangent...
I've been writing since I was ten, although nothing was worth reading until I was about 15 going on 16 and I took my first actual writing course... It was there that I learned techniqes to making more believable characters and learned the art of descriptive writing.
I am currently starting a new piece of fiction written from a totally new angle for me... I will keep you posted if I can. Wish me luck! Write on!
