Hussein Karamyar

Tehran, Tennessee, Iran

I was born in 1958 in Tehran. I joined Tehran Times as translator-journalist 1983 and have since published 26 books into English, mostly translation, not to mention thousands of translations and hundreds of articles written in English. In my part-time life, I cooperated with English program of overseas Dpt. of Iranian radio, the Islamic Republic News Agency, major publishers such as Imam Khomeini's Publishing, Alhda International Publishing, Great Islamic Encyclopedia, etc. I have scores of published books including "Stories of War," Islamic scholars (Qutb al-Din Shirazi and Nasir al-Tusi) by Alhoda International Publishing, rendering the books of prominent religious scholars chief among them the Supreme Iranian Leader, Allama Mesbah Yazdi, Allamah Muhammad Taqi Jafari, also cooperating with Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, Institute for Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini's Works. I also did literary translations of "20 short stories," written by Seyed Mehdi Shojaei, "Spoils" written by my brothers Sadeq, "A window to the garden of poetry," published by Iran House of Book; Nahjul Balaghe For children, published by Bonyad Be'athat; "A Guide to Good Writing," published by University Jihad Publishing, etc. I am now retired and do translation for a number of leading publishers and research centers and also write papers for presentation in conferences.
