Uri Jerzy Nachimson, , was born in Szczecin, Poland in 1947. He was named Jerzy after his father’s cousin, Jerzy Wolowelsky, who perished in the Holocaust. His father David Nachimzon was the grandson of the known Polish and Jewish writer Abraham Shalom Friedberg. He was a year-and-a-half-old when his mother took him together with his brother Wladek to live in Israel.
Upon graduating high school, Jerzy was drafted to the Israeli army and participated in the Six-Day War as a military photographer. After three years of military service, he was admitted to medical school in the University of Padua, Italy. A few years later he decided against a medical career, and went into business,
He lived in Italy for ten years where he married and had two children. In the early eighties he moved back to Israel and founded a construction company together with his brother. In 2005, he left Israel again and moved to Tuscany in Italy, where he lives today with his wife and their third son.
Uri’s written works span many genres, and encompass life stories in Tuscany, historic novels, and non-fiction. He has been engaged as a part-time touristic writer.
