I COULDN'T AFFORD A PROPER COLLEGE EDUCATION, SO I ATTENDED TWO ENGLISH CLASSES AT A COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THEY WERE: A BASIC ENGLISH CLASS, AND A CLASS IN AMERICAN LITERATURE. AT THE END OF THE SEMESTER, WE WERE REQUIRED TO WRITE A PAPER FOR EACH CLASS. FOR THE ENGLISH CLASS, I DID A PAPER ON 'FREEDOM', AND NOT AN I'M-PROUD-TO-BE-AN-AMERICAN PIECE OF SLOP, RATHER A PAPER ON THE DIFFERENT WAYS 'FREEDOM' CAN BE DEFINED. NATURALLY, WHEN I HAD FINISHED READING IT TO THE CLASS, AND I WAS THROUGH ASSOCIATING SERIAL KILLERS, FOUL LANGUAGE, ICEBERGS, HAIR, AND THE HOMELESS WITH 'FREEDOM', I WAS FACED WITH BLANK STARES AND FURROWED BROWS. (I DO LOVE FORCING PEOPLE TO QUESTION THEIR OWN DEFINITIONS OF THINGS THEY TAKE FOR GRANTED.) I WAS PLEASED, AND ESPECIALLY WITH MY FINAL GRADE. IN THE AMERICAN LITERATURE CLASS, HOWEVER, (WHICH I WAS NOT AS PREPARED FOR), I HANDED IN A PILE OF POEMS I WROTE IN HIGH SCHOOL (WHICH TO THIS DAY I DON'T KNOW WHY THE TEACHER ACCEPTED IN THE FIRST PLACE), AND A SINGLE SHORT STORY I HAD WRITTEN SOME TIME AGO. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE TEACHER CALLED ME TO HIS DESK TO GIVE ME MY GRADE. VERY ABRUPTLY HE SAID TO ME "YOUR POEMS ARE CRAP, BUT YOUR STORYTELLING ABILITY SHOWS PROMISE. FOR THE STORY ALONE, I'M GIVING YOU AN 'A'." MANY YEARS, AND MANY OVERWRITTEN SHORT STORIES LATER, I HAD AN IDEA FOR A PARTICULAR STORY. IT WAS A FANTASY IDEA, (WHICH IS IRONIC SEEING HOW TO THIS DAY I'VE ONLY READ A SMALL HANDFUL OF FANTASY NOVELS), AND FOR A WHILE, I ENTERTAINED THE IDEA OF TURNING IT INTO A COMIC BOOK SERIES. (FYI: SELF-PUBLISHING ONE'S OWN COMIC--HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, IDEA UNLESS YOU PLAN ON HANDLING ALL THE CREATIVE DUTIES YOURSELF. AND I MEAN ALL OF THEM.) A HALF-FINISHED, FIRST ISSUE LATER, I ABANDONED THE COMIC IDEA, AND DISCOVERED ONLINE PUBLISHING. SOON AFTER, "A CROWN OF THORNS" SAW PRINT, AND A TEAR WAS SHED AT THE SIGHT OF MY OWN ISBN NUMBER. THE REST IS, AS THEY SAY, HISTORY.

Interests: AS FAR AS INTERESTS GO, I WON'T SAY READING AND WRITING, BECAUSE THAT'S JUST A GIVEN. HOWEVER, I WILL MENTION DAYDREAMING AND BROODING, WHICH ARE BOTH EQUALLY REWARDING, ONCE YOU OVERCOME YOUR NEED FOR FRIENDS.
