SIDDIQUE MAHMUDUR RAHMAN, born in 4 September 1946 in Jessore, had his school education from Kolkata during 1953-65, BA in 1969, but could not complete MA due to Liberation War. He had his B.Ed degree in 1978 and MA in English in 1980. He published ‘Asian Voice’ a pen-friendship magazine during 1966-1980. He worked in establishing Danbir Hazi Mohammad Mohsin High School at Murali, Jessore during 1975. He worked in different organizations in administration, printing, publishing, editing and translation during 1980-2006.
Since boyhood Siddique was a prolific writer and a successful translator. He organized stamp exhibition in Jessore in 1976 and was associated with all philatelic exhibitions of Bangladesh, specially in the Banglapex 1984, First SARC Summit Exhibition, 1985, and Banglapex 1992.
Siddique was awarded medal in Banglapex 1984, Awarded medal in Khulnapex, 1984, Silver Bronze from Cardinal Spellman Philatelic Museum Inc., USA, 1990 for Bangladesh Stamp and Postal History, Bronze Medal from American Philatelic Society, USA, August 1990 and Silver Bronze by Australian Philatelic Federation, 1993 for the above book; Silver Bronze by Pacific Explorer, Australia in 2005 for Postage Stamps of Bangladesh, philatelic software in CD; Silver Bronze by 22nd Asian International Stamp Exhibition, Jakarta 2008 for K G Mustafa and His Exceptional Designs. His name was included in “Lekhok Abhidhan”, Bangla Academy, 2000, 2008.
Siddique is the Life Member of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh; Bangla Academy; Bangladesh Itihash Samity; Bangladesh National Philatelic Association; Philatelists Association of Bangladesh and Editing and Publishing Association of Bangladesh.
Siddique launched a literary and research website www.trulybangladesh.com in 2005.
