J Haywood

Washington, District of Columbia, United States

Researched and wrote the script for and produced a 58-minute documentary on the history of Blacks in the Olympics - from 1904 through 1984. Researched enormous libraries of stock footage and photographs. Writer for media and educational newsletters. Self-published MEDIA ON MY MIND (1977) and THE CHILD AUDIENCE: Cartoon Violence and Children (1986). Presently working on media and subliminal messages. Looking for an individual grant to self-publish. Also looking for freelance work as writer and/or proofreader. Recent position as a teacher/consultant with a local university was not refunded. However, the two and a half years teaching children and teens how to write and present plays on vital issues such as HIV/AIDS awareness, violence prevention, teen pregnancy, alcoholism and so on,was fun, albeit sometimes frustrating. Love sharing good information.

Interests: Reading, reading, reading. Science, fabric, music, dance; history, especially African American/African and Native American history.
