Subculture Books started as a Texas based company that produced books and magazines dealing with subculture movements in music and the arts. In early 2007 it purchased the rights to "You, Me and Morrissey" by Colin Nasseri and Sean Starr from the small French press, Editions Marie-Claude after a runaway success internationally through MySpace in 2007.
In the winter of 2007, Nasseri & Starr purchased the company and relocated it to the southern California town of Big Bear Lake, in the San Bernardino Mountains just outside Los Angeles. The two are currently working on the follow up to "You, Me and Morrissey" titled "Me Without Clothes" as well as developing several other titles for release in the late 2008 with other writers located around the United States.
Nasseri & Starr met over 20 years ago in the south Texas city of San Antonio where they both attended Longfellow Junior High School and shared a love for 80's alternative music and culture. Starr worked for fifteen years as a graphic designer and marketing director before launching his career as an abstract painter and author in 2004. Nasseri & Starr reunited in San Francisco in the beginning of 2006 and began writing "You, Me and Morrissey."
