how would you write a query letter for poetry? is it similar to a letter for a fiction book?

Do you mean for a book of poetry? Do you mean a cover letter? My advice is to get a copy of Poet's Market (which was suggested on another post about an agent for poetry) and use it for excellent information on submitting. Best, Caroline
