Lots of bumps on the publishing road.

    Hello all:

I have been looking at all the different avenues of getting my childrens books published. I can't seem to find an agent that is remotely interested, and when I do, I screw it up by being impatient.

My question is; Would self publication be more of an option than trying to find an agent or a publisher? Is it safe, or is it a complete scam to get your money?

Thank you to anyone who can help
    Dani

You might want to try posting this in the Other Ways Into Print forum. You'll get many more responses from those who have experience in self-publishing.

Just my opinion, feel free to ignore:

Self-publishing is fine if you don't want to see your book in a bookstore, but would like to have something to share with family and friends. If you plan to try to get traditionally published, don't self-publish. It is rare that self-publishing leads to traditional publishing.

I don't know how you're looking for an agent, but you can read the old threads in the Literary Agents forum to see how it's generally done.

Please be very, very careful and research agents / publishers thoroughly. Scams abound, and people are easily taken in. Don't add your name to the list.

    Best of luck to you.
