    I'm sure you realise that a publisher prefers to do all the negotiating w/ an agent, not the authour.

    Brittie, it's just wiser to let the agent do the negotiating. The reason being that once a deal is verbally agreed upon, by the agent or the author, it's considered bad form to try to change the deal. As far as speaking Spanish, wish I did. However, I would imagine that there are many agencies out there who have someone on staff who does speak Spanish. Let me check with my associate Ann Boyle. I'm not sure she speaks fluently but she worked in as a lawyer in Southern Florida so she might. I'll get back with you here or you can write me at robertbrown@wylie-merrick.com.

    Thanks Robert Brown. I'd be keen to know who you come up with. I suspect he should just cold call the agencies; or someone w/ good Engish should, and go from there. If he already has a publisher then it's a done deal, cream for the agent.
