Reggie the Red-Eyed Flying Vegetarian Polar Bear

Cool! Reggie the Red-Eyed Flying
Vegetarian Polar Bear,
Way up there, skywriting

With aurora borealis ink
A public service announcement
Shimmering green, violet and pink:

"The cold's more precious than you know."
Back down to earth, her fur only
Looks like it's the color of snow.

Surprise! Transparent and hollow,
Heat enters it - then never leaves.
And Reggie's skin, under it all?

Black: The smart way to soak up sun.
But that's the polar bear fashion:
What's Reggie's mark of distinction?

More rare than an Arctic earthquake,
The polar lightening bolt, only
Striking once in a blue...snowflake.

So struck, Reggie instantly sprouted
Wings, turned vegetarian, and
Now her eyes see in infrared!

In fact, some who've gotten close
Say Reggie's got shiny red eyes
Sort of like, well - old Rudolph's nose.

Promptly at the midnight hour,
She's at a darkened library,
Infraredly reading up on her

Favorite topic of interest:
Polar meteorology.
