    In addition to the above: I can't under any circumstances (ok, I can, but they're a lot more complex than this) imagine the CIA having the slightest interest in stolen art.

    And I say that from the perspective of an actual child raised overseas by an actual 'spy' (though we don't much like that word) who spent a lot of time smuggling actual art. Icons included. I'm looking at one of them now...and the CIA couldn't be less intriqued about its whereabouts....(so, you kind of lose me there. Factually.)

    I would like to thank everyone for the feedback. It has been interesting. There are three agents reading the novel currently and I hope to have representation on this soon.

    I agree with the comments above. I think you also have some issues regarding tense. You go back and forth from present to past in describing the story. It is confusing, and if that is how the novel is written, I don't know that an agent would be interested. Also, don't mention your failed attempts at being published, it sounds inexperienced. Just my two cetns. T
