    I'm drowning in uncertainty

    Hi everyone,

I am having a major setback for my writing. I realized that i in fact am 15, and that i do not have very many contacts or friends that would either a) beleive i am writing a book and b) be willing to read it and give me their take on it. I have had to pay a professional editor 60 some dollars to critique it, but she has her BA in English! It doesn't count. I want a reader to read it. I want a prospective audience member to read it. I know i can have my family read it but aren't they biased already?

Does anyone have any suggestions, of any place i can go to to find this magic fairy who reads unpublished writing....for free? *gasp*

I think this post is half venting, half frustration, and half doubt in myself. Three halves of something bad can't be good.

    AJ -

See if you can find another writer who needs the same thing and maybe you can trade work. I've done this with a couple of people (still do!), somtimes it's just a couple of chapters at a time and sometimes it's the whole book. In most cases, it has really helped! Post a notice on writing craft that you would like to trade with someone in a similar genre.

    Good Luck!

AJ. Your doubts have nothing to do with the fact you are 15. You've pretty much summed up how most new writers feel. Post a small section in the 'writers craft' board and you'll get a little feedback. Good luck,

    SG

AJ......here's the URL to a forum set up for young writers. Go there and join. You'll find a growing number of persons your age with whom you can exchange thoughts and get answers. Of course, WN is invaluable so don't just drop out of sight here once you touch bases with your peers over there.
