Julie Barer?
I did a search and read what has been posted here. I was wondering if anyone has any more information about dealings with this agent. Thanks.

Re: Julie Barer?
I submitted to her cold ie the website just said choose an agent at the agency and don't write a query, just send the material in. I then followed up with an email and phone message to tell her (!) I thought she'd like my material and let her know I'd sent it. She was very lovely in responding with good comments after a long while. She'd read the whole thing, and it happened just at a time when I had firm interest from others, but I thought she was a good choice. Definitely.

Re: Julie Barer?
Here's her page at Sanford Greenburg. Sounds pretty good, although very young to me would imply under 30. but if I was 80 I'd consider anyone under 60 to be very young.

Julie is particularly drawn to literary and commercial fiction, and her list includes a number of up-and-coming novelists and short story writers. In addition to distinctive voice-driven fiction, Julie is also interested in narrative nonfiction, memoir and biography, Jewish studies, history and pop culture, as well as young adult fiction. Born and raised in New York City, Julie was a Women’s Studies major at Vassar College. Before joining SJGA in 1999, she worked at the bookstore Shakespeare & Co., one of New York City's favorite independent bookstores.

Re: Julie Barer?
I met her at a writers conference about 3 years ago. She looked between 25 and 30 years old then. Nice, friendly. I only spoke with her briefly. I was concentrating on the two agents I interviewed with.
