My agent knows I'm working on my second manuscript, and EVERY time I tell him a projected finish date, he comes back with something along the lines of, "take your time." The last time we had that exchange his exact words were, "I'd much prefer you send me a polished, perfect, unputdownable manuscript" which I think is good advice for any author working with an agent - or trying to snag one, for that matter!
