Re: Puzzled's Posts
Maybe we should start marking our posts "Adult Content" on this board so Jane will know not to read them and be offended by comments such as "spreading legs" or that other particularly scandalous one "taking off clothes".

Rachel
Rachel,
I think I've already made my point, so I'm not going to go any further on that (I think - depends on if I get riled up, which seems to happen every once in a while here). I just thought it was nice of you (and straight-forward, and brave) to say what you thought about this subject. I really had a feeling I wasn't the only one who was offended. And I, too, believe I have pretty high morals and a good deal of self-respect, so I see no reason why "getting on your knees" is a fact of life or something that I should agree with and say, "Thank you, I'm glad I've learned a lesson through that wonderful, carefully-worded, polite post."
Enough! I don't want to get embroiled in another battle on WN. Thanks for posting, Rachel. I don't think crude language should be tolerated on this site.

Re: Rachel
I dont think crude language was used..perhaps crude imagery..but I am an adult and i read adult fiction..i watch tv. which has these scenes as well as language..notice scenes and language arent the same.
I have popups which are worse than what imagery Puzzle depicted.
but y ask y.
y belabour the point.

Shocked at sex?!
I am shocked that anyone would find the idea or imagery of sex crude. Jane is 18 years old and is actually offended by reading this? And why does she think it's sad that teenagers know about such things? Teens read newspapers, go to the movies, watch TV or read novels? And have even tried it.
And in this day and age their parents better teach them about it and about how to play safe. My husband and I have with our teenage son and daughter. C'mon, Jane, where are you living?
How sad for teenagers if they don't know about sex. And how sad for Jane that she finds it dirty.
And please note: both men and women do all sorts of things to land agents and get work and get published. But that isn't what Puzzled was talking about anyway. If you read his/her post again, you'll see that wasn't the point of that post.

I don't know what kind of things you have done in attempts to land agents and get published. The only thing a 'writer' does to get published is writing (writing the book, writing the queries, synopses, proposals etc.)
The issue is not knowing about sex and finding it dirty; places are like 'contexts,' and placing a thing in a wrong context makes it wrong. The content you see in a R rated movie is great for the cinema, we pay to go and watch it, but it can not be played in a church. Different institutions, different purposes.
Discuss all the sexual matters you like--just do it on one of the hundreds of thousands of Websites dedicated to such discussions and purposes.
And one wonders what makes you so vehement in your very first post on this forum (unless it’s a new moniker for an old poster.)

Re: Shocked at sex?!
We are straying into territory that I prefer we steer clear of... Let's not have a debate about attitudes to sex here... please.
As regards the analogy that started us in this direction: it, perhaps, strains the loose PG13 (parental guidance 13)rating we try and maintain here but has got a lot more attention than it deserves.
Let's move on.
