as always, would love feedback from the group on this idea of creating short video trailers for a book I have coming out next spring...

I loved them. And so impressive that you have a campaign! Did you put them together yourself? Anyhow, it's a really good idea for a book and the trailers convey it perfectly.

I did one for my own book if you're interested. I put it on myspace and various other places. See if this works.

R--yours is terrific. I'm sure it will help. I did put those together my self (I've writtten and directed commercials for about 20 years so FINALLY I could put the experience toward books

Hi Chris - like you I've worked on marketing and advertising for other people, though I've never directed a commercial. My day job is as a freelance copywriter. I have even had publishers as my clients in the past (Penguin UK) so I had the job of helping to promote other people's books. Now that I have my own book out, naturally I want to do all I can to give it the best chance of reaching its natural readership.

To that end I also recorded a virtual reading. I'd be interested to know what you think if you have a chance to check it out.
