    More assignments

What I have to say here is as much a tribute to the contributors to these boards as to my own success:

A few weeks back I announced that I had sold on assignment an article for a hobby magazine. The update is: that editor was so pleased with what I submitted that she gave me two more assignments and an okay for two stories on spec. She also asked me to try an article for a sister publication. At the same time, I approached the editor of our paper with two ideas and he bought both; they have been written, the pics taken, and the money received.

In the area of fiction, I now have three pieces absolutely ready to submit to select magazines; acceptance of any will become the current crown jewel. Rejection will be accepted with grace and not serve as a deterrent for continued efforts at breaking into print in the fiction field.

I have shared with you that a chemical dependance wrecked my writing carreer many years ago and that I have been free of the demon for 25 years now. The residual effects have
hung on; fear of rejection, unsure of my abilities, conviction that a single success is meaningless. However, I have been reading these boards on a daily basis since joining; the result has been as medicine. Therefore, I have to thank each of you who have put knowledge here for me to read and profit by.

Thank you to all....you are my blessings.

    Roy,

It's terrific news both on your writing and free of drugs for 25 years. Now that you have these assignments, just keep doing the same thing and your confidence will continue to grow too. Empires aren't built by laying all the bricks at once, it's by laying one brick at a time.

Roy, you are so generous with your appreciation. Remember that each of us is connected in this world for a reason and that you have a purpose in our lives, too.

Keep up the good work and smile!

    Roy,
Successes, small or large, are like gaining ground on the innocent we were before...the descent. The fact that you climbed out, and continue your upward climb, well, so much is fresh, heady air. Isn't it a miracle to be so happy? Way to go! Doc.

    Re: triumph and support

Congratulations, Roy, for twenty five years clean, and success as a writer. I've treated individuals with substance abuse issues (and their families); unfortunately, few have had such remarkable success. Glad to hear WN people have also strengthened your sense of self (which was only temporarily dimmed by the abuse, yes?).

May this be the beginning of an avalanche of wonderful opportunities!

    Cheers, Irene
