Mike and Terri, I really didn't mean to sound impolite. It just struck me amusing that someone IN highschool - probably 17 or 18 years of age - would say they "feel" like a beginner. I myself am a beginner. I've been writing since childhood and am only 23 years old. I did not mean to insult or be non-supportive of anyone. I don't see what is insulting about recognizing and admitting being new at this. Some of the best writers I have met have considered themselves beginners despite having numerous works written and published throughout a couple decades. Recognizing that you are not a master or pro only lends itself to better writing in my opinion. Terri - sorry if I offended you in any way. Sometimes I speak before thinking. Mike - you are a nasty person.

Hello, my name is Kathleen Hamilton and I have always wanted to be a writer. I am a student at L.P. Miller High School in Nipawin. To be exact I live six miles west of Codette, Codette is in Nipawin which is in Saskatuwan which is in Canada. I have written many books but some haven't been finished because I haven't found any willing publishers yet. I guess that's what the old term "Writting is easy, getting the books published is hard. But I will ask your help after I ask some questions, you see I have learned from my old grade six teacher, Miss White, that school is more important that anything else in my thick head. But that's a very long story, getting back to the point, I just wondered if you could E-mail me some basic things about writers, publishing, writters block, etc.... because I am doing a bopok report on writing. Also, I wish to know everything I can about the job I want to have when I get old enough. My E-mail address is Kathleen_27@hotmail.com I hope very much to hear from you. Sencerly, Kathleen Susannah Hamilton

Hello. Yours truly is a single brown Filipino male who aspires to write the great Filipino novel someday. Ten years ago, when i was still in college, i considered myself talented as a writer. I was already published by magazines and had won contests for my short stories. But that's ancient history now. I have not seen my name in printer's ink recently for i've seem to have lost the discipline to sit down and write. So now i'm just jerome, a so-called witer. Looking back, the saddest years of my life were the best years of my writing. I read some of the stuff I'd written then and i give myself a mental pat on the back for a job well done. Then it occurs to me that that was then and i do not feel the alakazam that once goaded me to weave words on paper and capture the voice of my time. However, I've not really given up entirely on writing again. I consider this time as some kind of hiatus which is providing me the opportunity to gather enough `material' if and when i do embark on a full blown career as a fiction writer. i hope to follow the path of hemingway, whose life seemed just as interesting as his fiction, and who has inspired me to find drama in the relationship between man and his world. i think this is the greatness of being a writer. To be able to look at the world and see something that nobody else can see. And telling people about it. And THAT is why i want to be a writer.

I have written a satire, A TALE OF TWO UNICORNS. It is quite long but, as most say who have read it, hilarious. Corny and Cornelia Cornelius are the main characters. The story covers their proposal, the wedding and reception and from thereon out it is a mixed blessing of screaming events. For instance old Corball as I like to call him, )Oh I am in the story never doubt, as matriarch of this large family of every critter there is. All living harmoniously in Unicorn Utopia on the Isle of Blissfull Content.) As I was saying, Corny is prone to faintng attacks when he thinks he is pregnant and in labor while Cornelia buffs her hooves, decked out in pink ostrich feathers and mules. (Mules on a unicorn??? Well I guess you get the idea. The manuscript is ready to go, but WHERE and to WHOM. I need help here folks. I am 70 and would like to see it published before if become a epitath on my stone. Oh well, the it would be read I guess. Heavens to my aunt Gertrudes blue garters, but I do carry on. Anxious to hear. FLO

Hi everyone: My name is Joan Hall Hovey, and I've been writing professionally for over 20 years. My short stories and articles have been widely published, and my 2 suspense novels, "Listen To The Shadows" and "Nowhere to Hide" have just been rereleased in paperback as Authors Guild Special Editions, available at iUniverse.com, barnesandnoble.com, etc. I'm also a writing instructor. So to that end, if you have any questions about the writing process, or tips and advice on finding a publisher, I'd be glad to try to answer them. I won't pretend to have all the answers, no one does, and there are no guarantees in this business, but I'll give it my best. No one gets there alone, and I'd be more than happy to share a few thoughts re the rocky road to publishing that I've encountered along the way. Email me, and you can be sure I'll write you back. Feel free to share my comments on this message board if you like. All the best.
