I have completed my first manuscript and gotten 50+ rejections. Most say, "This will be published, but I'm not the person," or "great storyline and compelling synopsis, but not me. Don't give up." One said, "I know I'm going to kick myself down the line for not taking this." It's a drama, exposing untold situations in a nursing home. Do you have any advise?

I'm getting replies to my query letters. As most of you know, the majority are
"no", but I have gotten a few "yes, please send manuscript". So, I'm looking
for some info on a few agents. Has anyone heard anything about the Dickens Group,
David Rompf Literary Agency, and The Alta Vista Corporation? Your insight
will be extremely helpful not only to me, but my wallet and the cost of sending
manuscripts. Thanks,
Robert

To: MARVA DOWDIN
Marva, this is the first time I have been to WritersNet and I am impressed by your advice and knowledge. I am two weeks into my first novel, after having churned it around in my head for the last seven years. I have a some questions and need some advice and you seem to be the one to come to. If you have a moment, could you e-mail me at dlynn@metlife.com. I would very much like to chat with you.
Thanks
David Lynn

Why do I get the feeling that the new writers world is one big rip off by agents and publishers. Is there no one that can be trusted to help a new writer get a really good story published ? There are a lot of books out there, so someone got through to the publishers.!!
Is there a list of publishers out there that do accept manuscripts from new writers.? If anyone knows. Thanks
e-mail info. to AIR82@msn.com

I feel as if I am a beginning writer even though I've been writing for years. I'm in my senior year of high school and would appreciate any information about writing, marketing, and literary agents.

Terri,
don't be discouraged. I've been writing since high school as well, and I'm still writing, and i'm finally mid-way thorugh a book I've been writing for a year. People have told me i'm crazy for wanting to write- not exactly in my family's list of secure career jobs, hehehe. Just keep writing until someone listens. Lola, you need to be more supportive of your follow writers, you impolite wench.

Be brave, all of you! Jonathan Livingston Seagull got rejected by some 50 publishers! Would love to edit your manuscripts, but the problem is I live in India. Keep in touch. nsampathk@hotmail.com
