Question Will Anyone Help this Published Author?

I am a recently published author so I would never claim to know as much as some of you but I understand there is some kind of difference between a professionally published author and a self-published author, yes?

In my mind, it would take an awful lot of courage for anyone to spend years working on a book and then take all the steps required to publish the book themselves.

Although, that may only be my opinion because I've taken those steps to publish the book that took nearly a decade to write whereas I've never done it any other way, such as being published by a professional publisher. And yes, I realize that anyone who self-publishes a book could actually be the absolute worst writer in the world who just so happens to have the means to do get it done on their own.

I guess I would like to ask if there is anyone who would read my full novel so I can prove to the world that I'm not one of those "absolute worst writers in the world" and that I have a really good story line that no one has ever written about before.

Yes, I know there is no subject under the sun that hasn't been written about but the one I chose and the way I write is rather unique but will you be that one person who reads it and then tells everyone whether it's good or bad in your opinion?

If you are willing to help a new writer like me, you can get your own copy of my book on: CreateSpace

I would offer to send free copies of the book to anyone who promises to read it and give a review on my blog below but I regret to say I don't have the funds to do that at this time. I'm hoping that will change in the very near future though.

My blog and the place you can leave a review is at: Mr. Michael's Life Blog or you can also leave your thoughts on the Amazon Kindle page for my book too.

I can tell you that you're not the worst writer in the world, but you do need an editor. I think cutting all the sex crap out of your book would improve it immensely and give you a more marketable book. I think you should tell this as a story instead of promoting your business with it and explaining what the whole escort experience is like. Nobody wants to read a giant advertisement for an escort service and how to have great sex with a stranger and what an awesome lover you are. They would read stories though, but that would entail writing about something other than yourself, your business, or sex, which I think is a little beyond your reach, judging from what I've read so far.

Apparently John isn't familiar with the phrase Sex Sells.

Sure I am, and it's false. Sex may draw attention to your product, but it won't sell it, unless you're specifically selling sex, like erotica or prostitution, which this may be. Your market's instantly cut to people who want to read sex. I don't know...did you look at the book and see the table of contents? I think 95% of women wouldn't give it a second glance and very few men would read it. Stack the poor writing on top of that and the unrelenting narcissism...sheesh.

But hey...Twilight...50 Shades...there's a market out there for awfully written trash.

Yes, I knew there would be someone who would try to cut me down & discourage me no matter how excited I was but I won't let your comments bother me John. Obviously, you will not be one of the people who get to enjoy the fact that this book seems to be one you might find in the gutter of a back alley in a dank part of the big city but also has a very interesting & unexpected feature because I know some men out there will feel challenged by a first time author who hits the ball outta the park.

No, I won't tell you what the very interesting & unexpected feature of my book is because you'll just have to read it all to find out and saying I'm a bad writer who needs an editor, that was kinda stupid because there is no editor in the world who knows more about my life than me, you get it?

I may be a new author and I may not have a college degree in writing but I did study it when I spent 7 years in college and I've also taken advantage of this great study partner called the Internet so I know full-well how to write very well but thank you for pointing out how little you know about it.

Anyway, it seems as if you have my back Rogue Mutt because even though John says that the phrase "sex sells" will only get the attention of a few of the worst people (comment adlibbed), I can tell you this is not true at all. EVERYBODY and their mother enjoys sex and if anyone writes about it the way I have (in a way that is not pornographic with no the intention of degrading women), I find it hard to believe that EVERYBODY and their mother won't go out or log on to buy it or order it for themselves.

Well, I'm not TRYING to cut you down or discourage you, Michael, though I'm sure my words sound that way. You're absolutely right about me. No way I'd ever buy your book. The table of contents and five or so pages I read of the book bored me. It was difficult for me to read that much. The primary reasons are the writing was bad, and I'm not at all interested in reading about you because in my personal estimation, you've not lived a life worth reading about. Others would feel differently, I'm sure. Those people are your market. As a first-time author, your odds of hitting the ball outta the park are less than getting hit by lightning. That's just reality, Michael, even if you had an outstanding book.

An editor is not in the business to know about your life. An editor corrects and polishes your writing so it's the best it can be. You need an editor.

I don't pretend to know everything about writing, but I know quite a bit more than the average joe, and I've made my living at it for the past quarter century or so. I think I have good advice to impart, particularly in writing, but if you don't, then to each his own.

I think it's interesting that just because I said you're limiting your market to people who want to read sex, you think that means a "few of the worst people". Last time I checked, the market for erotica was plenty healthy, and I'm sure it includes many exemplary people, just not me, lol. If you find it hard to believe that EVERYBODY and their mother won't clamor for your book, well...all I can say is I think reality will ease your belief.

    lol OMG, this is fun...!

I'm not calling you stupid John but the points you make sure seem that way. Not all of them but a few are really low on the common-sense meter. I don't know you or what kind of person you are but I can tell that you would absolutely love my book if you read it all, no matter how much you try to deny it.

Do you want to make it a challenge?

If you read my book all the way through every word and you don't love it, then I will buy it back from you and that goes for anyone.

You can order a copy for yourself at: https://www.createspace.com/5591157

Can you help me out with this site though? How did you put your name & link in your signature?

You should capitalize "wasn't" in your title. A mistake on your cover doesn't really make me want to plunk down $24 for the rest of the book.

You think that was a mistake? You think the word 'wasn't' is a solid noun? I'm sorry but that wouldn't make any sense to me.
