    Hi Simon,

I think we've fixed the issue. Can you check again?

    Hi CG

The Off topic section is not visible. I tried signing out and relogging in - still not there.

Heck, the main reason I came back to Writers Net was because it looked like Smoko was gone. God knows what kind of things would have slouched, slipped and slogged out into other topic areas during the past couple of weeks.

After all that nastiness, I haven't missed those forums at all.

I miss it. Even if it got ugly sometimes. It's really what gave writers.net it's character and enabled you to "get to know" some cool characters - even if some of them were quite ugly - in a way you just can't get know them on the other boards - which should focus on the topics at hand and helping others.

If you don't like the nastiness it was quite easy to avoid - the nastiness rarely spilled over to the other forums.

Simon, at the end, it spilled over into EVERY forum. People couldn't post for a critique or ask a question, or give a critique without being accused of being a sock puppet, or a clone, or being insulted, because how dare some of our more experienced writers give an opinion on a newbie's writing that certain others didn't agree with. Even when something was contributed that could in any way be considered offensive, several people made sure to give that person a hard time just because they didn't like them, actually ganging up on a few people who haven't come back yet. And I sure miss the ones who were ganged up on and left, a lot more than I miss the ones who did the ganging up.

But I am happy to see you back, Simon. I hope Smoko will show up again.

Yep, much nicer now. I for one, like it much better. Been nary an insult since that whole Smoko gang left. All the anger and bile just floated away like a storm cloud.
I often wonder how they're all doing.

I miss being able to blow off a little steam when the pressure to meet a deadline to deliver a draft was getting to me. And I miss the Project Runway thread and I cannot believe I am saying this but I miss seeing what leslee had for lunch. And a part of me even misses **** in on of her one hundred incarnations.

Whatever bad came along with smoko, to me it was surpassed by the positive.

    edited to say

    OMG - they censored the word L I L Y!

Is this really what Writers.net has come to?
