    How To Write Faster

    http://www.slate.com/articles/techno.../slowpoke.html

This article tells how. Nothing new here; what I need is an article telling me how to stick to the advice.

What do you all do to improve your writing productivity?

I wish I wrote fast. I'm slow. Dorothy Parker said, "I can't write five words but that I don't change seven." Me. too!

When I can't think of how to say what I want to say I accept whatever comes along. (Wm. Stafford school of poetry.) So I'll write anyway and the next day when I read it, I'm thankful I persisted even though it needs work. At least I put the gist on the page. I can take what I wrote and improve it and then move along.

I am constantly interrupted, not one who closes herself off in the room with a Do Not Disturb sign. I wish! It's just not feasible for me.

So, the main thing is that I write even when the muse is on Jupiter. It might make me cringe, but it also has its moments to keep me keeping on.

    Congrats on your textbook manuscript!

I think I've discovered the secret. It's learning how to say, "This is good enough."

Excellent, L C! Saying, "This is good enough" is a great thing to learn. Thanks.

I always think it's good enough until the next time I look at it.

I never think it's good enough.

At some point I just have to stop or I'll be revising the same manuscript for the rest of my life.
