I'd like other members thoughts about copyrighting your material prior to submitting or seeking a literary agent. Is this unusual? I can understand it if one is self-publishing, but is it necessary when going the more conventional route?

I'd like other members thoughts about copyrighting your material prior to submitting or seeking a literary agent. Is this unusual? I can understand it if one is self-publishing, but is it necessary when going the more conventional route?

When you get published, a legitimate mainstream publisher will copyright the work in your name and their expense. I think most professional writers let it happen this way.
