It's true. Especially with teenagers and 20somethings. "Like" and "I mean." Sentences beginning with "I mean." It's an epidemic!
Amazing is the other word I hear overused the most. Everything's amazing.
"How's your oatmeal?"
"Amazing!"

Ha! That's it exactly. Even the most banal is pronounced "amazing" or "awesome.""How's your oatmeal?"
"Amazing!"
When I was at the Grand Canyon, I thought, "Well, this qualifies for awesome and amazing."
My teen daughter uses like in every blasted sentence. After a while I start coughing my head off every time she says it. I get the eye roll occasionally but she cuts down on the likes!

Keep coughing, Keith. You're doing her a favor.
Speaking of word invention...
'Jacob Rees-Mogg has made the record books with the use of floccinaucinihilipilification in the House of Commons - now the longest word in Hansard.
The Conservative MP told Andrew Neil the 29-letter word meant the "actual habit of estimating is worthless" and that it "came to mind as it does from time to time".'
