Audrey Niffenegger does a fair bit of head-hopping mid-chapter in 'Her Fearful Symmetry'. It's all third person, so I didn't even notice it first time round.

As others have said, switching POV is perfectly acceptable as long as it's done right.
My own opinion -- and practice in my writing -- is that telling a story from multiple points of view is also acceptable. As long as you don't confuse the reader, and tell the story as it needs to be told, you're doing your job.
It should be stated here that I'm not with the POV police, and don't believe you necessarily need a chapter break, or even a space break, in order to switch POV. But, then, I've been at this for decades, so if I don't know what I'm doing by now, I'd be screwed.
