You say that as if I contradicted myself. I did not.

I'm quite confident in my own abilities. I proof my own work and have since the 70s. After it's subbed (and accepted) I work with an assigned, in-house (free!) editor.

I was advising anyone unsure of their own work, on alternatives to paid proofing/editing. That would include most, I expect, of the lurkers and newbs here. Most of my posts are with them in mind.

OK, I clearly see the switching of goalposts in your two posts. But it's not arms and legs if you don't choose to see it.

    More important, I wasn't wrong--no matter how you clique-pretend.

It's really sort of arrogant (and wrongheaded) to say you can be your own proofreader. This isn't just a playground. Giving advice here comes with responsibility.

I've been reading your posts for years, Gary. Believe me, I understand how important it is to you to believe you're right.

    All. The. Time.

You may call me "arrogant" if you wish. (I understand demeaning others can sometimes convince the demean-or he's gained an inch or two in the creds department. Since you seem a little short - go ahead.)

    I proof my own work.

    All. The. Time.

Until it's sold, at which point I am happy to collaborate with an editor.

    Capice?
