Elemental Touch: The Guardians of Magic (revised prologue)

Alright, I re-read this and took some of the advise I got to heart and cut it down by about 200 words, bringing it to a single page, and also re-wrote certain aspects of it. I think it works better this way, but please keep in mind that this is just supposed to be a quick story to give the reader history behind what's going to happen later. I hope you like it.

Yeah, I noticed that, too. Plus two other errors. But, so what? It's only a writing site.

Alright, I forgot to copy and paste it. Sue me, I'm new and was in a hurry cause I do this at work.
    PROLOGUE
In the days long before our modern world existed, magic was both the science and religion of the world. People used and studied magic in their daily lives and were at harmony with one another. The Spirits of nature smiled on those who pleased them with their work and blessed them with love and good fortune. Certain users even had an innate connection to the Spirits from birth and, with enough training, could perform feats of unmatched magical prowess. These users were considered to be gifts from the Spirits. Many of these users isolated themselves in special training locales and dedicated their entire lives to the understanding of their abilities. It was believed that they worked directly with the Spirits to maintain the delicate balance of nature.
However, like all imperfect systems in the universe, the world as it was eventually came to a tragic end. The power that the innate users were given began to corrupt them to use their gifts for selfish purposes. That corruption slowly overtook the world to the point that all the Spirits became sickened with it, all except one, named Krugari. In spite of his selfless nature as a Spirit, Krugari became thirsty for power and inspired the darkened users to band together promising them an ultimate victory against the mindless puppets who served the Spirits without question. His followers raided whole cities and converted thousands to his cause promising their destruction if they rebelled.
With time, Krugari’s followers began to overrun the earth. Earthquakes and volcanoes cracked whole continents changing the very face of the planet. In the midst of the turmoil and death, a small band of innate users, still loyal to their Spirits, banded together for one last plea for assistance in saving humanity.
One spirit, who called herself Illumine, answered their call. She empowered them with all the positive energy she could summon to battle this army of the wicked. When Krugari learned of this uprising he ordered his soldiers to quickly squash it. As his army approached their stronghold, the handful of innate users stood fast against the thousands of evil warriors.
A battle ensued that shook the foundation of the planet. Mountains exploded and caverns opened. Tidal waves hundreds of feet high struck nearby beaches. For days Illumine’s warriors fought tirelessly against insurmountable odds never giving in an inch.
When the battle was over Illumine’s soldiers stood victorious, as if protected by divine energy. With Krugari severely weakened due to the loss of his army, the warriors called to Illumine to help them banish the evil Spirit to the Realm of Darkness where he could no longer influence or corrupt the people of earth.
The grateful warriors joined together and established a barrier of energy to imprison Krugari and they promised to carry on the traditions of their magic with their children and grandchildren. For many generations the tale of the few who stood up for goodness and purity in the face of certain destruction was remembered, but the tale was lost to time along with Krugari and even the magic that had saved the world. Today only mere fractions of the magical traditions still exist that the people of this world once held so dear. However, in spite of the obliviousness of the common man, the Spirits and the magic are still very much in existence…

It's ok. I know simply by being new I open myself up to hazing the more active I am, even if my stuff were great which I know it isn't, yet. However, I wish you could see the rest of the book to get a better picture of what I'm really trying to do with this story. The prologue by itself really doesn't do it justice.
