Fantastically helpful. I am just at the approaching publishers stage for my novella, and ruining my nails trying to figure out how to go about it. Many thanks for the help!

It's getting outdated enough now to have just about run its course, but I (along with Carol Kluz, a long-time-ago poster here) have a free-use "how to go about it" website up that's one of Writers Digest's top-100 writers' sites: http://www.publishingquestions.com. What it lacks is coverage of the e-book revolution. It should give you some background and links that can be found even if they now are broken on the steps and approaches to take in getting print published, though. (Getting e-published is easier and often more profitable.)
