Re: Frightened of getting this rejection………..

    Thanks Keith,

About a year ago, before I got on this site and beforeI did some sudy on the industry, I would have been likely to be caught out.

I have checked her out. She has a well established background in the field and the agency is long established also.

Really lovely of you to warn me, reading the things I have read in the past 12-18 months I can only imagine the money and time wasted by some, but this is a 'real' agent. If I am lucky enough (and good enough) to get her as an agent then I'll let everyone know who she is and you'll understand why I'm so keen to have her represent me.

Beautiful! Good luck. I wasn't trying to hold your hand or anything. The hard copy thing just sounded weird. I thought Nancy Coffey was the last holdout against e-queries and even she just started taking them. :fingers crossed:

Diana Finch takes e-queries but wants hardcopy fulls. My printer died. She didn't want to wait, so I paid FedEx Kinkos to print a hardcopy for her.

    Good luck, Raven.

Even from overseas? I sent hardcopy requested fulls to a few agents, but that was a few years ago and I'm in the US. It's kind of crappy to ask someone to snail a huge, heavy manuscript from freaking Australia. Expensive, too.

You know, I missed the fact that Raven has an Oz accent. How'd that happen?

I write SF. My attitude is that any agent who doesn't accept email queries isn't going to understand my work well enough to represent me.

I'm also Australian and was recently asked to snail a hard copy to the US. It is expensive, and doubly hard given the USPS online store wasn't sending stamps OS at the time, which were required for the SASE.

    Hi Joe,

just to clarify, the QL and original draft chapters had already been read by her and were sent via email. This is the final re-write and complete MS she is asking for.

    Hi Jason,
Although I haven't sent a complete MS o/seas before, I don't intend to use USPS or similar. I have sent very large items to Europe and the US before - paintings and have always used Australia Post Express International. It can be expensive but I have found it to be fast and easily trackable.
After I have sent it I'll let you know how I go.
