    Trying to find a single word to explain something that is worse than what has happened earlier; maybe opposite to parody, without the joke bit

    Maybe intensifying? But compounding is probably a better term. Are these two seperate events causing two different sets of problems, or two seperate events making a single situation worse. Try watching the weather channel. Sometimes on shows like 'Full force weather' they give examples that might help answer your question.
