    Options that come to mind.

    "Heads accumulated by the door, reminding Harold of a bunch of helium filled balloons at a party."

    Or the more distant.

    reminding one of a bunch...
    bringing to mind a bunch ...
    reminicent of a bunch...

    Or some word switching:

    "...bunching the door like helium..."
