    Looking for a word

I've got a word I can't come up with. It generally refers to a young person and means an over-eagerness to impress when one is new at and activity or a job. An eagerness to show one knows what one is doing. I believe it ends in "ous"

I've been running around "audacious", "impudent", "impertinent", "overzealous", "overambitious", and "impetuous", but I don't think any of those are what I'm looking for. It's a one-of-a-kind word.

    Thanks,
    John

And possibly "bodacious" could work. If your character is overeager to impress others with his/her skills or talents, one might also consider him/her "obnoxious", or overbearing.
