    My epilog

I officially finished my novel just now...Yea! (It's 2:53 in the morning, but I don't care!)
My whole word count is about 106,000 but my question is about the lengh of my epilog. Its 1,700 words, according to Word.
Is that considered too long? I only put in the information needed to answer some lingering questions in the novel and nothing more.
    What's everyone's opinion?
    Thanks for the feedback.

    Re: My epilog

There is no hard and fast rule as to the length of an epilog, but I would hazard that anything shorter than the novel itself should be acceptable. Whether it adds to the whole or not, only you can say.

Congratulations on finishing. Now you start polishing.

    Good luck.

    Re: My epilog

I wrote like a 25 page epilogue once. It just kept going and going and going. In the one I just finished (more than twice yours) I was tempted to do the epilogue like "The World According to Garp" where it goes through what happened to just about every character. Then I remembered that was boring and annoying; sometimes you got to know when to walk away and know when to run.
