    character names

I completely understand why you wouldn't want characters in the same story with similar names. No need to confuse the reader, right. What about having two characters whose names both begin with the same letter? According to Flogging the Quill, this is a no-no. If two names are very different except for the first letter, will this confuse anybody?

    Thoughts?

I say do what you want. With today's technology you can pretty easily change the names later if the agent/editor wants to.

    LOL @ Ziggy and Zippy.

I DO have problems with same first letter names. In Bridges of Madison County, I think the two men in love with Franchesca were Richard and Robert. It drove me nuts.

    Re: character names

i think it depends on gender as well. Bonnie and Beauregard are unlikely to confuse. unless it's gender neutral. I hate when maybe a girl is named Alex or something and then there's an Allen and then i'll confuse the two...
