    Kate, I know what you're talking about. I really think that writing is like a portal into another world.

    You know it's funny, one time I was talking to another writer about something that my main character was going to do. I knew that this thing was going to happen fairly early on in the book. My writer friend told me, just don't write it that way. My response, I can't, it's just what he's going to do.
