Has anyone here heard of Barefoot Books? They publish children's books.
Thanks, Debbie

Thanks, Janine. I don't have a Writer's Market. I was just wondering if anyone published with this publisher. I did go to their website.

I submitted a story to them three months ago. No response as of yet. I don't remember much about them except that I looked at their books for sale and some of them seemed similar in concept to mine.

Chris,
Thank you for posting. Do you remember who you addressed the letter to? The website doesn't mention any names and neither does agentquery.
Thanks again,
Debbie

I do remember. I addressed it to the "submissions editor" because I also could not find any names.
But, I didn't worry about it because I was doing what they told me to, at this page: http://www.barefoot-books.com/us/site/pages/101_artistscafe_.php
I imagine if you knew the right name it would probably help, but they obviously aren't expecting it.

I wonder in what aspect this practice would fall under copyright laws.
You submit something. You get no response. Afterwards, you read their work. Their work carries a familiar ring.
It sounds very much like you! Sometimes, it is only the opening paragraph that is changed -- and the change is quite poor to your standards.
This has happened to me many years back.

Debbie,
Did you ever find out the submissions editor\'s name? I am finally ready to submit to them and I\'m wondering the conclusion of your efforts. :) I hope you were successful! Did you end up submitting? Heard back?
I really like the books they\'ve published so far... I hope they liked yours :) and mine :) That\'d be great.
Well good luck to you and your career. Hope to hear from you! Lots of Love and Gratitude :)

Hi Sarah,
Yes, I did find out. I emailed and he invited me to send the ms to him. His name is Nick Brag, and he's an editorial intern. I haven't heard back from him, but it's only been a couple of weeks. I don't think I'll hear anything until after the first of the year.
Here's a list of agents I'm going to contact next. I found them on www.aar-online.org.
Good Luck! Debbie
