New Political Chat Forum

Author: WN Moderator

Hello everyone

I'd like to draw your attention to our new Political Chat forum.

We have talked about it for a while and it's finally here. We'd like you to use this new forum for discussing anything 'politically charged' in an effort to 'clean up' the Smoko forum for those users who wish to avoid such heated debates.

We hope you enjoy this new discussion place.

Regards

Little by little we're getting there, Moderator Elaine! Now if we could just get the "older messages" button to stay put. The little bugger has wandered off yet again.

(Well, Donald....it's been semi-nice to know you. :-)

Yippy skippy. Maybe now the fab five will leave Smoko for its intended purposes: a place to relax, not clash heads, nothing heavy please, etc.......................... :)

A new forum, after all these years?... It's like suddenly discovering a whole new continent.

"We have talked about it for a while"

We have?

I would still prefer an edit button, or the option to delete my post if I later decide I've stuck my foot in my mouth.

And no one needs to add "Like now?"

Well like most things in life, it all comes down to money. I am unfortunately working with a limited budget and so the quick/easy things to fix or implement get done first.

Next time there are some spare funds we will look into the 'edit button' and of course work on the 'older messages' link.

Any chance of calling it News and Views or Views and Perspectives instead of politics? That would encourage people to talk about politics in context, which is important for us as writers.

How much money does an edit button cost?

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Moderator, would you be interested in selling writers.net? I'm looking for a hobby and have the resources and skills to work on it and even expand it.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Frank, I'd be willing to pony up some cash if you want a mostly-silent partner.

Even here, whenever somebody posts a comment, they are revealing their perspective (or perception) about something or other. IMO, the so-called political forum will turn out to be little more than an extension of Smoko -- just another place for babbling.

Ah, but that's right! There will be no moderation over there! For that reason I have a feeling people will hang around the New Kid more than they will (the comparatively benign) Smoko. It's the ol' train wreck philosophy, doncha know. :-)

Re: New Political Chat Forum

That should be "no moderating," not moderation.

(Although, '"no moderation" might apply too. :-)

"How much money does an edit button cost?"

Yeah....we could have a bake sale.

Seriously, though. Since this is an American website operating under the rules and such of the U.S.A., and the Constitution guarantees freedom of speech, and we call it a Political Chat Forum, should it be moderated? Shouldn't there be free speech and our right to say exactly what we want to say?

I thought it was based out of Australia or New Zealand or somewhere like that.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

I thought WN was based in Cali. /shrugs

I agree with Steve. I say what I want when I want and where I want and you no like, tough titties. ;)

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Ah, they just have an office in New Zealand and one in China. Hmmm, if they really are headquartered in Madison I could just take a drive over there sometime. Road trip!

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Author: Rogue Mutt

BTW, the political forum is unmoderated so you can say what you want when you want.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Author: Beautiful Loser

Yeah, like Smoko is moderated. ;)

I've gotta fly.

Have a great weekend, all.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

"A word of warning - this forum is not moderated."

Leave it to you to see the details, Rogue. :-)

I think I said something about a foot in the mouth in another thread.....

I'd enjoy that. It would be a nice amount of cash for the moderator and we could all get involved.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

No, actually it would turn into another "Absolute Write," with oceans of soccer mom chitchat. Isn't one enough?

It could be whatever you want it to be.

Sure, after me, Lily and Don are banned. LOL

Actually, the goal would be to take the site to full XXX squirrel porn. Hope that's not a problem for anyone.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Author: Mark Ellis

Although that proposed direction has merit, I don't think anybody should be banned.

However, people should own what they post and that means establishing upfront who--or what--they really are.

Cowardice tends to level any so-called moral high ground.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Author: L C

Mark, you rarely post here. What would a forum of people who rarely post look like? Would it be better than a forum of "cowardly" posters who keep things moving?

Now that's my kinda site, Frank darling.

When I think about the little furry creatures in compromising positions (spread eagle, posing with colorful beach balls, cleverly hiding their fuzzy bits behind paisley Lastex), I yearn to come out of hibernation.

That Frankie!
First chickens and now squirrels. What next? Goats?

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Author: nancy drew

You only wish, Don.

Then your fantasy goat world would be blown wide open.

You old Deep Goat, you.

Squirrels "cleverly hiding their fuzzy bits?" Why couldn't you just say "squirrels hiding their nuts?"

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Author: Don Daffron

No squirrel can hide his nuts from Frankie Dicky.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Author: nancy drew

Why couldn't you just say "squirrels hiding their nuts?

What a blatantly short-sighted assertion, Frank.

Some squirrels might be intersexed, transexual or even female.

Was Frank baiting you with his squirrel porn comment, Don?

I found a dandy photo of Eleanor Roosevelt sheathed in squirrel fur.

Are your hackles rising -- or is something else?

Re: New Political Chat Forum

After Frankie is through with them they swear off sex for life – all six months of the average squirrel’s lifespan. No wonder so many squirrels commit sideways by running under cars in traffic. They can’t live with what Frankie has done to them.

Intersexed or transexual I can buy, but I don't think there are female squirrels.

Alright, Don, we'll play "squirrel" again. Bend over.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

And just how many of these furry sex slaves have you 'purchased' via kinkyrodentia.com?

... And can you recommend any other sites?

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Don't start guys till I get the webcam recorder in place ...

Alrighty now. GO.

Frankie gives a new meaning to the term “squirrelly.”

Your squirrel could save the world from untimely destruction, XO.

And what does your squirrel have underneath his Superman tights? Why, I'll show you what your squirrel has on underneath his Superman tights.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

And this is why you need a superdee duper squirrel to properly post jpgs.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Nancy

You need to put < img src=" at the beginning, and " > at the end, but with no spaces except between the img and the src.

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Okay, that gif address didn't work. I'll try another one. Is this the picture you wanted to show?

Re: New Political Chat Forum

Neither did that one. Hmmm...interesting. Will try another.
