I saw the play recently during a trip to London (as a graduation present). It was fantastic.
Does anyone else here love the play?
I was in the fifth row. It was a splurge, but totally worth it.
My favorite scene (and song) is the one right before intermission. Defying Gravity is an awesome song. Kerry Ellis sings it beautifully.

I only have the sound track and have not seen the show. But the music is wonderful. It's been to Pittsburgh a couple of time but I've been too poor or lazy to see it.
I was in London for a graduation present, myself, quite a while back. I saw Phantom. ;)

My dad saw Phantom when he went. I was in Middle School. So, I wasn't there. He loved it.

I saw it twice with a different Wicked Witch each time and it was good both times.

Have you read the book? It's good, but some people like the musical better. The book and the musical, though having basically the same plot, are completely different.
I liked both. Gregory Maguire is a good writer. But his books can be a bit too weird for some people.

I WANT to like Maguire. I finished Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister and it was a labor. Then I tried Wicked and gave up. I love the subject and I've always enjoyed fractured fairy tales but for me, he gets dry. That's just me. So many people I know enjoy his writing.

He's not my favorite, I'll admit that. And, yes, parts of it were dry.
I personally like the musical more. But I'm not one of those who like the musical and hate the book.
