Now, if the idea of the story is in that first chapter (I mean, an idea so unique that you want to keep it secret until you shop it out), then I'd suggest not posting it. But, yeah, I think what leslee said about posting a page (even a scene) is enough. Depending, of course, on what sorta feedback you're looking for.
If you're looking for general feedback on your grammar skills, then we don't need an entire page to give you something. If you're looking for character development, then a page isn't enough (and you'll have to get a Reader(s) on the outside who could read for you). If it's flow-ability, then a page could give us enough to be able to give you something to work with. It's some talented folks on these boards, so whatever you post (as long as folks believe you're serious), you'll always get something to take back to the writing board.
