Has been a career journalist for over 24 years at Sri Lanka's leading English newspapers - the 'Sunday Observer' and 'Daily News'. Sri Lanka media representative of the world athletic body - IAAF.
Presently the Editor-in-Chief of the Sunday Observer and Associate Editor / Sports Editor of Daily News, Sri Lanka.
Has covered some of the major international sporting events as a career journalist, including 1992 Bercelona Olympics, 2000 Sydney Olympics, 2004 Athens Olympics, 2008 Beijing Olympics, four IAAF World Athletic Championships in Edmonton 2001, Paris 2003, Helsinki 2005 and Osaka 2007. Amongst the other international assignments are Asian Games in Hiroshima 1994, Bangkok 1998, Busan 2002 and Doha 2008.
Educated at Royal College, Colombo and University of Athens (IOA), I have represented Sri Lanka at the 1990, 1992 and 2002 Asian Sports Press Union Congress sessions. Member of the Asian Sports Press Union and the world body AIPS. Secretary General of the Sri Lanka Sports Press Union and media representative in Sri Lanka for the International Association of Athletic Federations (IAAF).
Has worked as a television and radio sports commentator for Sri Lanka's leading radio network (SLBC)and tv station (Rupavahini). Has covered South Asian Games as well as Test cricket and one day international cricket matches as a commentator.
As Chief Editor of the Sunday Observer, I covered Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa's state visit to Japan in 2007, including the official function at Imperial Palace.
